It’s hard to pull entrepreneurs away from their work—passions, really—and get them all in one place, let alone a different city. But the results typically are incredible. Add in a passion for the Midwest, and things could get really interesting.
That’s what SPN, Think Big Partners and The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce hope to do next Thursday, August 21. We’re collaborating on a day for the entire Silicon Prairie to convene, for two reasons: conversation and celebration. Think Big and The KC Chamber’s iKC: The Unconference will kick off the day at 7:30 a.m. at Union Station, featuring a create-your-own-session format, 1-on-1 mentor opportunities and a keynote from Andy White of VegasTechFund. That’ll then roll right into our party for the region’s best of the best, the Silicon Prairie Awards, at 6 p.m. at the Midland Theatre—we’ll have some drinks, toast the winners and have some fun along the way.
Put it all together and we hope it’ll be more than just fun. We want you to leave with connections to your neighbors, whether they’re from Lincoln, Des Moines, Cedar Falls, Kansas City, Omaha, Iowa City or any of the many growing communities that make up the Prairie.
So far we have three buses rolling into town, two from Nebraska and one from Iowa—more info to come on this. And we couldn’t be more thrilled. We can’t wait to have everyone in one place. It may be too much of a good thing, but we’re pretty sure we’ll survive.
