Since 2010, Silicon Prairie News has been operating on a custom back-end created by our co-founder Dusty Davidson. Back then, it was a pretty slick system, but the Internet has grown leaps and bounds in the past six years. So we decided it was time we grew, too.
As of today, we’ve upgraded that framework and switched to a WordPress site that will help bring us into the future.
That means you may notice some changes.
What’s new today?
Most notably, we’ve changed our comments to Disqus, a commenting platform used by many sites across the web. We want you to stay in the conversation by setting up an account—it’s as easy as logging in with your Facebook, Twitter or Google account. Disqus will allow the conversation to flow better as you can reply to specific parts of a thread and up or down vote comments a la reddit, so the best comments rise to the top.
Thanks to our sponsor
If you’re subscribed to the newsletter, you won’t get one today. But don’t worry, the SPN Daily will be back in your inbox soon. Also for the time being, our shortlink is inactive but will be back customizing your URLs again in no time.
What’s coming soon?
You may notice our event calendar isn’t populated yet. We’re working on that and it should be posted in the next few days.
Taking a look at an old story? There may be some odd spacing or formatting. We’re working on it.
We know there’s still a few things that are out of place, not working or broken and for the next few days, we’ll be hard at work to get those fixed as we continue to bring startup news from across the Midwest.
As always, thanks for reading and being a part of the Prairie.

Love Disqus!
I miss the old version that wanted me to comment using an AOL account 😛
Cool!
Looks great. Good clean up.
