Behind the painted boxes: Cremalab defines the Big Kansas City identity

We’re thrilled to once again have Cremalab working alongside the SPN team to create the brand and experience for Big Kansas City. Last year they had the fun challenge of introducing the world to what a Big conference looks like in Kansas City. This year, they were inspired by the concept of “The Makers.”

We’re heading into year two of Big Kansas City, and looking forward to sharing your stories and those of our speakers over the next few weeks. All of this wouldn’t be possible without our content partner, Pinsight Media+. They are a pioneer in mobile media with deep entrepreneurial roots. Their team brings leadership, experience and global awareness to Kansas City’s booming startup community. To learn more or talk with our friends at Pinsight, email Serge Bushman, sbushman@pinsightmedia.com.

Big KC Crema Brand

Cremalab is excited to once again have the opportunity to work alongside the SPN team to create the brand and experience for Big Kansas City. Last year we had the fun challenge of introducing the world to what a Big conference looks like in Kansas City. We worked to tell the story of how history meets modern innovation in this growing entrepreneurial, tech and creative ecosystem.

This year we wanted to literally “paint” the story of how the Kansas City community is working together to create a more connected landscape of innovative ideas, and highlight the makers who are building those projects, communities and businesses here.

We were inspired by this concept of “The Makers.” Raw wood meets splashes of color. Basic, raw materials are needed to build any beautiful product. Sometimes it’s that swipe of the brush that changes a plain surface into a piece of art.

It takes making that first move; that first brush stroke that can spark an entire community to get fired up to come together and build something Big. The element of the cube or block is a beautiful metaphor of the unique perspective and contribution that each individual brings to the community. These blocks build upon each other to make a rich environment of innovation.

Big Kansas City is such a unique experience. Not a tech conference. Not a business conference. Not a networking event. It’s an opportunity to come together and be inspired by the individuals in our community that are making and creating. The brush strokes these individuals paint are showing us what we can do as a connected community. They are helping us see that we are all a part of the building blocks that make this community something Big.
