Photos: Move-in begins as Des Moines’ Gravitate opens to public

Monday was move-in day at Gravitate, Des Moines’ newest “entrepreneurial center of gravity.” With StartupCity Des Moines closing to the public last week, many of the companies and co-workers previously there migrated one block south on Sixth Avenue to their new digs inside the Midland Building.

Gravitate’s co-working bullpen will be the main work area for those looking to do open co-working.

DES MOINES—Monday was move-in day at Gravitate, Des Moines’ newest “entrepreneurial center of gravity.” With StartupCity Des Moines closing to the public last week, many of the companies and co-workers previously there migrated one block south on Sixth Avenue to their new digs inside the Midland Building.

While some finishing touches, like baseboards and light fixtures, aren’t done being installed yet, the co-working bullpen and individual offices are ready to be filled by entrepreneurs. So far more than 30 co-workers have signed up to work out of Gravitate and more than 60 community members have supported the initiative.

BECOME A SPONSOR

Open co-working in Gravitate’s bullpen is $150 a month while anyone looking for a little more permanent space can rent fixed desks for $250 a month. Only want to once in awhile? Gravitate offers a drop-in rate of $15 a day or a 10-day punch card for $100. And for those who won’t actually be working from the space, but want to help support the community, a community membership costs $75.

Stay tuned for more updates on the space as things come together, but for now, take a peek at Gravitate on move-in day:

Individual offices, like Jobsite Unite’s (above), and conference rooms line the perimeter of Gravitate.
