Gary ShapiroInnovate or die.

This is the reality for all businesses. No matter which industry you find yourself in, innovation is the driving force behind success and economic growth around the world.

Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), is one of the greatest champions for innovation in the U.S. Don’t believe me?

CEA represents more than 2,000 American technology companies, addressing policy issues while also providing market research, training, education, industry promotion, standards development and more.

Additionally, Shapiro and his team own, produce and run the world’s largest innovation event: International CES. Each year, more than 3,500 tech companies showcase their latest innovations to more than 150,000 attendees. International CES has been the platform for the debut of products that have forever changed the way we capture, consume and interact with the world. Revolutionary products launched at the event include the VCR, CD player, camcorder, HDTV, Xbox, Blu-ray and 3D HDTV—just to name a few.

Shapiro’s work has surpassed advocacy for innovation. As the head of CEA, not only is he a defender of 2,000 companies, but the employees of those companies as well. Shapiro has been honored by the Anti-Defamation League, who granted him the American Heritage Award in recognition of his “long commitment to the humanitarian goals of civil rights and justice.“ Bottom line, If you’re in the tech industry, Gary’s got your back.

On top of all this, Shapiro has published two bestselling books in the past three years and contributes regularly to Forbes, The Huffington Post, The Daily Caller and others.

Gary Shapiro is coming to Big Kansas City. Find out more about all our amazing speakers at bigkansascity.co, grab your ticket and hear Gary’s story this October. You can give him a shoutout on twitter at @GaryShapiro—what innovative idea in the Midwest does he need to know about?
