Meet the 12 teams of Startup Weekend Iowa City

CORALVILLE, IOWA—Startup Weekend Iowa City kicked off Friday evening at the University of Iowa BioVentures Center in Coralville, Iowa, to hear the event’s 78 attendees pitch 44 ideas in 60 seconds each.

More than 75 participants gathered Friday evening for Startup Weekend Iowa City.

Startup Weekend Iowa CityCORALVILLE, IOWA—Startup Weekend Iowa City kicked off Friday evening at the University of Iowa BioVentures Center in Coralville, Iowa, to hear the event’s 78 attendees pitch 44 ideas in 60 seconds each.

The last Startup Weekend Iowa City was held in October 2012 in conjunction with the reddit Internet Bus Tour, and while it’s been awhile since Startup Weekend came to Iowa City, the 54-hour event hasn’t been absent from the Creative Corridor—the inaugural Startup Weekend Cedar Rapids was held in March.

Final presentations begin Sunday at 5 p.m. and are open to the public. Tickets to attend Sunday’s Demo Day cost $25 and can be purchased online.

Judges for the event include Adam Ingersoll, co-founder of Built by Iowa; Beth McKeon, founder of Kids Calendar, Inc.; and Ravi Patel, co-founder and lead investor of Built by Iowa and president of Hawkeye Hotels.
