The Nebraska Legislature gave final approval Thursday to three bills of interest to the startup community. All three passed with no dissenting votes and are now awaiting the signature of Governor Pete Ricketts.

LB 156, introduced by Sen. John Stinner of Gering, makes an additional $1 million in angel investment tax credits available to qualified investors. The bill passed 46 – 0.

LB 226, introduced by Sen. Colby Coash of Lincoln, sets up a framework for crowdfunding in Nebraska. The bill passed 48 – 0.

LB 629, introduced by Sen. Heath Mello of Omaha, provides a regulatory structure for ridesharing companies such as Uber and Lyft. The bill passed 47 – 0.

LB 156 and LB 629 were both passed with the emergency clause, meaning they will become effective the day following the Governor’s signature. LB 226 will become effective 3 months following the Legislature’s adjournment.
