This year’s Heartland Developers Conference on September 7-9 in La Vista, Nebraska, features sessions on JavaScript, Unity3D, Angular, Azure, Node.js, and C#. It will also include presentations by well-known startup leaders, including Rob Hruska from Hudl, Paul Oliver from Vosaic and three presenters from Aviture. We checked in with previous year attendees from the Omaha and Lincoln startup communities to see what they like most about HDC.

Tara Stava, Senior Applications Developer, BuilderTREND

“I had the opportunity to attend HDC last year. The great thing about HDC is the selection of topics and speakers. There’s always something of interest and often ideas picked up at the conference can be immediately applied back at the office. I also enjoyed being able to meet and network with other developers, particularly at the MESH party.”

Gregory Nichols, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Proxibid

“In the fast paced world of evolving software technologies, HDC provides a cost effective opportunity to learn, engage with their peers and take fresh ideas back to their place of business. Proxibid has been a regular participant and sponsor of HDC, and we continue to see increasing value for our software professionals.”

Brian Zimmer, Business Director, Don’t Panic Labs

“HDC has been an excellent opportunity for Don’t Panic Labs to build and deepen relationships within the Omaha and surrounding development community. We’ve attended and exhibited in the past and plan to stay involved in the future.”

John Oerter, Software Engineer, Phenomblue

“HDC will feature fantastic sessions and speakers, but the real value for developers will be the conversations had before, after, and between sessions. HDC presents an opportunity for developers to expand their network and exchange innovative ideas with other top developers.”

JR Brooks, President, Managed.com

“HDC is a great event to have in our backyard. People often think of New York, San Francisco and Vegas as the best places to go for cutting-edge conferences, but events like HDC show how much the Midwest has to offer. Great sessions and workshops from incredibly smart people, in a city known for its friendliness and hospitality, at a fraction of the cost of other conferences — what’s not to like?”

Michael Struthers, Recruiting Manager, Flywheel

“I like the progress in the last few years. They have been updating the feel of the conference and working on bringing in more than .NET speakers and focusing on more technologies.”

Save on early registration through July 19 for HDC, the region’s longest running local software design and development conference.
