Large Fundings in the Silicon Prairie (over $10mm)

Endotronix – Lisle, IL – $70 million: This round was an expansion round from the Series D funding last August.  The company provides the Cordella System which helps patients suffering from heart failure feel better and stay out of the hospital. “Heart failure care providers are seeking better solutions to manage patients and we believe the Cordella System with PA pressure-guided management delivers on that need.  This financing expansion allows us to execute on the PROACTIVE-HF trial to provide the highest level of clinical evidence which will redefine the standard of care for heart failure patients and accelerate our time to market.” – Harry Rowland, CEO at Endotronix in a Press Release announcing the new extension.

Fasetto – Superior, WI – $14 million – Fasetto continues a strong year.  The company raised $6 million dollars in early February.  And now, through SEC filings, it appears the company has raised an additional $14 million.  The company provides technology solutions that connect content and devices.  The company’s two products, Forum and Gravity, connect devices to ensure that there is seamless content delivery for presentations, for consumption, and for a variety of other uses.  Coy Christmas, the CEO and Founder, is a serial entrepreneur that has devised a variety of products that are sold at retail and online.  Fasetto is his latest cool technology company.

 

Series A Fundings ($2mm to $10mm)

4C Medical Technologies – Maple Grove, MN – $8.19 million: According to Form Ds submitted to the SEC, Maple Grove, MN has raised $8.19 million.  4C is focused on developing minimally invasive therapies for the treatment of structural heart disease – specifically its AltaValve TM Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement (TMVR) device.

Spineology – St. Paul, MN – $7 million:  According to Form Ds submitted to the SEC, St. Paul based Spineology has raised $7 million.  Spineology builds physical devices that are utilized during spinal surgery to reduce the invasiveness of the surgery.

Geneoscopy – St. Louis, MO – $6.9 million: Geneoscopy is a biotechnology company that has created a colorectal cancer screening assay.  According to Genome Web, the company raised $6.9 million in venture funding from Cultivation Capital, Lightchain, and NT Investments.  “Geneoscopy’s research has shown that stool-derived eukaryotic RNA biomarkers are highly sensitive for both the presence of cancer and, more importantly, pre-cancerous lesions.  High sensitivity for precancerous lesions, or adenomas, is particularly important for CRC prevention,” said Bobby Sandage, Cultivation’s General Partner.

nOCD – Chicago, IL – $4 million: nOCD is a behavioral health company that has built strong technology to help people with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).  Chicago Ventures led this $4 million round.  There is a good press release on their website: http://chicagoventures.com/2019/10/nocd-raises-4-million-in-series-a-funding/.

Surgical Innovation Associates – Chicago – $4 million: Surgical Innovation is a spin-out of Northwestern University that is creating reconstructive and aesthetic surgery devices.

GreenKey Technologies – Chicago, IL – $4 million: GreenKey provides speech recognition technology.  This recent funding included collaboration with Motorola Solutions that will help use GreenKey tech in their 911 solutions.  “Over the past two years, we’ve worked with Motorola Solutions on building technology to decrease response times and lower the administrative burden for first responders,” said Anthony Tassone, Founder and CEO of GreenKey in a press release announcing the funding.

Eagle’s Catch – Radcliff, IA – $3 million: Eagle’s Catch Fish Farm has built a large scale tilapia farming operation in rural Iowa, north of Ames.  The company’s basic premise is to become one of the largest tilapia farming operations in the United States, distributing fish from the middle part of the country.

Biomesense – Chicago, IL – $2.42 million
