Big Kansas City and Steve Case’s Rise of the Rest will join forces Thursday, October 9, giving the community and its business leaders an unforgettable afternoon. After a fireside chat with the AOL co-founder, a group of pre-selected startups will have the opportunity to pitch their company to Case for a $100,000 investment. Directly following that pitch, KCNext and KCADC, in partnership with Rise of the Rest, will host a happy hour at 5 p.m. at The Guild to showcase KC's creatives and culture.  read more

Two hours before you arrive at Missouri Bank's downtown branch, Triple I, VML and UP Global are coming together to share cocktails and conversation at the VML Global Headquarters. KC Convergence, a Big Kansas City Pop Up event, has been coined as the (pre) pre-Big KC party, described as “a fusion of entrepreneurship, creativity and technology."  read more

Big Kansas City Pop Up Events: Sprint Accelerator Reverse Pitch

Just a month ago, SPN received a nomination for the Silicon Prairie Awards stating, “the Sprint Accelerator was the center of the KC tech community this year, period.” So what better way to kick off Big Kansas City then a trip to the place that brought us together over the year. Presented by the Kansas Bioscience Authority, the Sprint Accelerator will host a “reverse pitch” on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 5–7 p.m. in collaboration with Collab, a program at KU Med that perfectly fits into the Accelerator's mobile health theme.  read more

Only a week left to apply to pitch at a Rise of the Rest stop near you

In less than a month, startups in five Midwestern cities will each have a shot at a $100,000 investment. As part of the Rise of the Rest Road Trip with Revolution CEO Steve Case, five pitch competitions will be held across the region—in Madison, Wis.; Minneapolis; Des Moines; Kansas City and St. Louis—to help "celebrate and accelerate" the progress being made in the heartland's entrepreneurial communities.  read more
