Catch a ride to the Silicon Prairie Awards Thursday with these groups

We're getting so close to the Silicon Prairie Awards that we can almost feel the weight of those Golden Analogs in our hands. But we'd have nothing to celebrate and no one to pass those Analogs off to if it wasn't for the tremendous support we receive from our communities. We helped organize a bus from Omaha, sponsored by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, and were excited to see efforts from Lincoln and Iowa come together to help get as many people as possible down to Kansas City for the third annual Awards.  read more

Mobile Monday KC brings together community focused on mobile space

"So far we’ve made it through two meetups and we’ve not had a line of code on the wall,” laughs Jeff Danley, the co-organizer of Mobile Monday, a mobile-focused meetup held the second Monday of each month in Kansas City. While many monthly meetups focus on specific programming languages like Ruby or Java, Danley says that he wants the newly established monthly meetup to attract a wide variety of people interested in the mobile space.  read more

Speaker Spotlight: Marissa Sackler, founder of Beespace

In November of 2013, Marissa Sackler decided to take a widely-used concept implemented by the tech industry and apply it in the nonprofit sector. She launched Beespace, an incubator for early stage nonprofits. Beespace hosts organizations that work to solve a wide variety of issues throughout the world from organ donation to education in low-income areas, each receiving a two-year residency.  read more
