To whet your appetite for what’s to come this week, we bring you a Sunday Video featuring one of the speakers in our loaded Big Omaha lineup, Marc Eckō.

In this video, from a 2007 interview of Eckō conducted by Andrew Shapiro of GreenOrder, Inc. for CIT: Behind the Business, Eckō discusses the origins of the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that have served as the building blocks for his business empire. It started, Eckō said, with the influence of his grandmother, who always encouraged his fascination with comic books and art, and his parents, who were entrepreneurs in their own right, giving up other pursuits to launch successful real estate careers.

“At my house in the kitchen there was just the business phone and the house phone,” Eckō said. “I think watching them just kind of hump away and believe in themselves was something that inspired me.”

In 1993, at age 20, Eckō launched Eckō unltd. Years removed from that, Eckō looks back on his early years as an entrepreneur fondly and finds great value in the lessons learned and relationships formed then.

“I really value being able to (start) the business at that time in our lives when we were allowed to kick and scream and be overly emotional and overly reactionary,” Eckō said. “And I really cherish the bonds that were created at that time. I think it keeps us, it gets us through moments now in life and in business – life and business – that just make it more meaningful.”
