Hoopla.io, the platform for local event discovery that spawned from Local Ruckus, only recently launched its site October 1. So if you didn’t know what the hubbub was all about, now you can learn more while helping them win a national competition on their way to a national push.

The Kansas City-based startup is a semi-finalist in the Miller Lite “Tap the Future” contest. The team will pitch in Dallas Wednesday in front of Shark Tank’s Daymond John, but there’s also a fan favorite contest that allows Hoopla.io lovers one vote every day. Each of the top five vote-getters—the contest ends November 8—will receive $10,000. Head to the contest’s landing page to see Hoopla.io’s video and vote.

When we last spoke with Hoopla.io, the goal was to distribute events content—businesses enter the information, which Hooopla.io syndicates—to media outlets, websites, mobile apps and publishers nationally by the end of the year. That goal got a little closer to reality last week, according to CTO Adam England.

“We will be launching Denver and St. Louis, and following up with a dozen more major metro areas during November,” he told Silicon Prairie News Friday. “We intend to have nationwide coverage by January 1.”

In the meantime, the startup has been chosen as a Best Young Company to work for by turnstone and recently won Tech Cocktail’s Hottest Showcasing Startup contest in Kansas City.
