Last week, Kingland Systems which has offices in Clear Lake and Ames filed paperwork with the SEC that it had received $1 million in angel capital. September 2019’s $1 million is in addition to the $1.5 million that was raised in 2018.
Kingland Systems was founded in 1992 by David Kingland. The company provides a variety of software and online tools to financial services and retail companies. The range of platform services is significant including a focus on compliance, security, data analytics, and marketing. The company has a vibrant blog that details its own customer-centric design focus but also how a customer can use Kingland’s Platform to build strong relationships with end use customers.
In May, Kingland announced that David Kingland would be moving to the Chairman of the Board and Chief Innovation Officer roles with Todd Rognes and Tony Brownlee moving into the Chief Executive Officer and President’s roles.
At the time David Kingland stated through the company’s blog a variety of long-term vision statements, “Kingland has experienced great growth the last 25 years and is poised for continuing that trend the next 25 years. We believe our strategy is sound, but our objective is to build an organization that has continuous improvement and innovation at its very core. Kingland also has affiliates in China and has some stock publicly traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. According to the filings in Hong Kong, the company had $10-15 million in revenue in 2018 and profits of more than $1 million.
The company represents a hidden gem in the Silicon Prairie as Kingland has been an active rural software company for more than twenty-five years. It has played a key role in economic development projects around Clear Lake in Northwest Iowa and Ames (pictured).
