Creator Geoff Arnold and collaborator Sean Richardson of Flyover Technology based in Sioux City, Iowa, announced this week the creation of a Slack-based entrepreneurial community, Silicon Prairie Tech.
“There are vast amounts of smart and talented people in Silicon Prairie doing great things. SPT will be the place where if you need some help on a certain project you can get connected with talented people in a matter of seconds,” Richardson said.
Geoff Arnold, the creator of SPT is a newcomer to the Prairie startup scene but he is not new to startups, spending over half a decade entrenched in the NYC startup community before moving to Sioux City.
“I always knew that there was a strong and vibrant entrepreneurial community here, but it is challenged by the expansiveness of the area. I thought that if I were to be successful, I needed a way to tap into the entire community. Thus SPT was born,” said Arnold.

Modeling the space after successful examples such as NYCTech Slack which has 934 members and 41 public channels and Atlanta’s TECH404 which has 2251 members and 295 public channels, Silicon Prairie Tech is made to help cultivate communication across the vast Prairie community.
“SPT isn’t a new idea,” said Arnold. “Similar Slack communities are popping up all over the globe. I foresee a day in the not so distant future where people can get help with some CSS, vet ideas, and even find careers on SPT. Selfishly, I hope to draw people out to join me in my own entrepreneurial pursuits.”
