Omaha Startup Week reveals branding and schedule

Omaha Startup Week organizers recently released this year’s logo and schedule. Founded in 2016, Omaha Startup Week is a five-day celebration from May 1-6 of the local community and its entrepreneurial identity.

This year’s focus topics include Startup, Investment, Design, Dev, Inclusivity, Corporate Innovation, Modern Marketing, Fintech, and Community.

Omaha Startup Week presented by Cox Business, is led by the community’s entrepreneurs in some of the most innovative and inspiring spaces. The Startup Collaborative powered by The Greater Omaha Chamber will be acting as the central hub for daily breakfasts, workshops, lunch panels and networking events. KANEKO, Founders One Nine, Omaha Design Center, Flywheel and Bailey Lauerman will also host events.

Event organizers have picked a few of their top events from Omaha Startup Week to highlight this year’s lineup:

Kickoff Breakfast:  Building Community that Builds Companies featuring Kelly Hoey, angel investor, author of Build Your Dream Network, contributor to Fast Company, Inc. Magazine and judge on CNBC’s Power Pitch. (May 1, 9 a.m.)

Females in Venture: What it is Really Like featuring Beth Engel, a partner at Dundee Venture Capital; Sarah Bird, CEO of Moz.com; Kelly Hoey, angel investor; moderated by The Startup Collaborative Cofounder Nathan Preheim. (May 1, 4 p.m.)

Robotics, Toys and Star Wars: Inside Sphero’s Scale featuring Sphero Cofounder Adam Wilson, best known for creating the Star Wars droid BB8. Sphero’s raised $80k, grown dramatically and has crafted a vision for changing how kids learn robotics. (May 2, 4 p.m.)

Why the Midwest: Trends in Flyover Country featuring David Brown, co-CEO of Techstars, Chuck Norris, executive at Nelnet; Josh Leiss of Next Coast Ventures; moderated by Karen Borchert, VP of operations at Flywheel. (May 2, 1:30 p.m.)

Silicon Prairie Awards ($25 tickets) This is our ecosystem’s chance to recognize eight companies and individuals from the region for their outstanding products, excellent service, and selfless contributions shown through their work. (May 2, 7 p.m.)

COX Get Started Pitch Competition, which will feature entrepreneurs who will pitch their business to a distinguished panel of experts for a chance to win $10,000 in prizes – $7,500 cash and a $2,500 Cox Media package. (May 4, 5:30 p.m.) To register to pitch, click here.
