ARCOS® LLC announced this month the acquisition of Des Moines, Iowa-based Sciengistics, Inc., doing business as RosterApps. ARCOS will retain RosterApps Iowa office and employees, which brings ARCOS’s workforce to more than 100 people.

RosterApps is a provider of airline ground crew scheduling software. The acquisition will combine RosterApps’ airline experience and shiftwork technology with the ARCOS resource management platform to fully automate the scheduling, shift-trading, callout and tracking of flight and ground crew staff.

“We acquired RosterApps to enhance our presence in the airline industry and build on our decades-long ground crew scheduling and resource management capabilities across multiple industries,” said Bruce Duff, CEO of ARCOS. “The RosterApps product is very complementary to our existing ARCOS solution that helps airline carriers automate the process of finding qualified, available pilots and flight crew to fill open trips due to last-minute schedule conflicts or IROPS.”

RosterApps provides a SaaS scheduling solution for ground personnel supporting commercial and passenger airlines. The company’s clients include passenger airlines such as Jet Blue, Southwest Airlines, and United as well as ground handling contractors for the industry.

The RosterApps ground scheduling system helps managers automate and centralize scheduling information, eliminating the need for paper forms and processes required for tracking schedules and adhering to union agreements.

With RosterApps, managers can integrate workers’ schedules with time and attendance software and human resource information systems for real-time reports on shifts and schedule changes.

“We’ve proven that we can bring airlines the same benefits, such as cost savings and customer satisfaction, that our utility customers have enjoyed for over a decade,” said Duff. “With the addition of the RosterApps solution, we’re now able to provide automated resource management and scheduling for the entire airline including aircrews, ground employees and contractors. The RosterApps solution will also benefit our utility customers who, like the airlines, operate with shifts and often complex union rules.”

The RosterApps platform removed the complexity involved when filling ground crew shifts fines, as well as improves customer satisfaction and ensures the safety of employees. Managers relying on RosterApps are able to increase employee satisfaction and retention rates because workers get immediate visibility and control over bidding and swapping shifts.

“The combination of RosterApps and ARCOS brings our clients the next generation of scheduling features they’re looking for, including automating the callout process for filling open shifts,” said John Brant, president of RosterApps, now managing director at ARCOS. “Integrating with the ARCOS System means we can automate many of the manual work-management processes relied upon behind the scenes.”
