Earlier this year we wrote about our visit to the State Capitol to testify to a subcommittee of the Nebraska Legislature on behalf of LB 1109 – Adopt the Nebraska Innovation and High Wage Employment Act: Silicon Prairie News testifies on behalf of Nebraska Innovation Act.

As things have moved forward in response to the bill, Invest Nebraska has been contracted to conduct a survey to gauge the level of understanding of resources and opportunities as it relates to our state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The survey closes this coming Monday, August 30. Here is one opportunity to have your feedback directly considered by those in government who have made it a priority to asses the current entrepreneurial landscape and resources.

We invited the bill’s author, Sen. Danielle Conrad (below) of District 46, to share more around both LB 1109 and the the value of the survey.

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Task Force of the Nebraska Legislature established by LB 1109 (2010) is developing a strategic plan that cultivates innovation and high wage employment in the state. Invest Nebraska, a nonprofit venture development organization, has contracted with the Legislature to provide research, analysis, and recommendations for the development of the statewide strategic plan. As part of this process, the Task Force is interested in your feedback regarding various programs, service providers, and the current condition of Nebraska’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

I want to thank Dusty, Jeff, and Danny for the tremendous amount of work they have done with Silicon Prairie News in jumpstarting Nebraska’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. It is imperative that we take control of our own destiny. Growing Nebraska’s start-up community and cultivating our innovators needs to be a top priority in the state’s economic development strategy.

I would like to encourage each of you to review the survey, take the survey if you have input to include, and help us spread the word to contacts in your network to ensure we can maximize participation and results. The online survey only takes a few minutes to complete and all responses will remain anonymous. The survey closes next Monday, August 30.
