Our much-anticipated journey of 2.5 earth days blasted off Wednesday night in stellar fashion. We launched v.3.0 of Big Omaha with the Opening Party presented by Rackspace, a shindig that we are — ahem — unApollogetic in saying was out of this world. (We are, however, apologetic about the abundance of bad space puns. No more … for at least two sentences. Promise.)

Sporadic rain showers didn’t seem to dampen any spirits, as conference-goers mixed and mingled at Capitol Lounge and Supper Club and Blazin’ Pianos. The good folks from Malone & Company were there to capture it all, and they kindly shared some of their spectacular images with us (photos below, from Malone & Company).

The voyage continues today with a full slate of speakers at KANEKO. Doors open at 8 a.m. for breakfast — nothing freeze dried, we promise — and programming begins at 9. In case you missed them earlier this week, we have posts detailing the schedule for the next two days (“Big Omaha 2011 schedule“) and providing a rundown of how Thursday’s speakers have been making news lately (“Big Omaha: Thursday speakers in the spotlight“).

Check Silicon Prairie News throughout the conference for updates on all Big Omaha action, or join the conversation on Twitter with the hashtag #bigomaha.
