Maker Faire: Kansas City is coming to Union Station from June 24-26, and the deadline for submissions for the event is Friday. Maker Faire is a three-day event that aims to highlight and bring together science, art, craft and engineers to showcase their work and inspire others to become makers. With the guidance of the staff from MAKE magazine, Maker Faire envisions family and friends gathering to share their accomplishments with the Kansas City community.

Date: June 24-26

Hours: June 24, TBA; June 25, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; June 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Entry deadline: Friday

Types of makers who should apply:

  • Makers: Individuals, groups, schools and organizations that would like to demonstrate what they make and/or how it works in an interactive environment. For maker groups, schools and organizations, we ask that you have one point person to coordinate your group efforts. Makers do not pay a fee to exhibit at Maker Faire: Kansas City for non-commercial exhibits. 
  • Food makers: Individuals or groups that showcase/demonstrate food products that they make in an interactive environment. Note: If you plan on serving samples, they must be two ounces or less and you may be required to submit a Health Department Permit Application. Details will be given to you upon approval. 
  • Commercial vendors: Individuals who would like to sell products along with demonstrating what they make at their Maker exhibit. If you are a maker that has a product that you would like to sell at Maker Faire: Kansas City, please submit a maker application and indicate that you are a commercial maker. For a standard set-up, there is a fee of $100 to participate at the commercial maker level.
  • Commercial food vendors: Individuals pay a fee to show and demonstrate a food product that they make (and plan to sell) in an interactive environment. Samples that are two ounces or less may be given away. Prepared packaged foods (defined as food that is not consumed on-site) can be sold. You must comply with Food & Health Regulations. For a standard set-up, there is a fee of $100 to participate at the commercial vendor level.
