Thanks to the group of 40 attendees that joined Silicon Prairie News and our sponsor Verizon last night as we marked the occasion of 4G LTE’s arrival to Omaha with a panel discussing about the ever-expanding use of mobile in business.

We kicked off the night at 6 p.m. with drinks and networking and at 6:45 our MC Albert Maruggi of the Marketing Edge blog took the stage to welcome our local panelists, each of whom had tested a Verizon 4G device the past two weeks: Michael Kingery of SkyVu Entertainment, Steve Gordon of RDQLUS Creative, Megan Hunt of Princess Lasertron. Also joining the panel was Dennis Dohrmann of Verizon.

Though the increased speed of business as a result of 4G was the focus of the panel, the night turned into an interesting discussion around the use of QR codes to bring interactive experiences to a mobile phone user. During the Q&A portion, an audience member brought up the example of the grocery story that utilized QR codes in its advertising in a subway station, which brought a store-like experience to an unique place for customers. Here’s the video of the example:

Staying with the theme of the event, we utilized our mobile phones – the iPhone 4 on Verizon – to capture the night.
