I’m pumped for today. If you’re reading this before 8:30 a.m., I’ll be in my car heading north to Sioux Falls, S.D. for the all-day Innovation Expo, an event that aims to bring together the region’s inventors, researchers and entrepreneurs. It’ll kick off at 9 a.m. with a keynote from Dwolla co-founder Ben Milne – I expect he’ll bring the energy – and then goes into breakout sessions until a lunch keynote. The afternoon features a pitch contest, more breakout sessions and an awards ceremony.

In addition to attending the event, I’m also excited to be participating on a panel with two of the coolest cats in the Silicon Prairie, brother business duo Scott and John Meyer (above, photo from 9clouds.com). The two co-founded 9 Clouds, a social marketing firm, and you may be familiar with John’s name as he authors our popular Tools of the Trade series.

I’ll be joining these “bro-founders” onstage in a 10:30 breakout session to speak about using social media to build online communities offline – a major goal of ours at Silicon Prairie News. I’m looking forward to telling the audience how we utilize Twitter, Facebook, photo sharing apps and most recently, led by our event coordinator Brittany Mascio, Pinterest.

If you’re at the event tomorrow and you see me around, please wave me down or give me a nudge on the shoulder and say “Hey!” If you’re not sure what my mug looks like, you can find me on Twitter, @dannyaway.

And if you’re not at the event (unfortunately, it’s sold out), you can check out what’s happening by following the hashtag, #innoexpo. (Note: I don’t know if that’s the official hashtag but I’m hoping that because I’ve written it here it’ll become the official hashtag.)

*Update, 9:15 a.m. Nov. 2 – The conference hashtag was changed to #innoexpo. Previously, it was incorrectly stated as #SDIExpo.
