We’re celebrating Groundhog Day from 5-7 p.m. this Thursday Feb. 2 at the SPN meetup with Hatchlings.

With a projected high of 54 degrees in Des Moines today, it’s hard to think tomorrow marks Groundhog Day, a day where many hope and pray the furry guy doesn’t see a wintry shadow. Tomorrow night, Feb. 2 from 5-7 p.m. at Raccoon River, the spokesrodent from a related genus, Analog the Prairie Dog will have more on his mind than a shadow when he joins us for the Silicon Prairie News Meetup with Hatchlings.

BECOME A SPONSOR

It’s been a busy week in the Silicon Prairie with StartupIowa’s Startup Fair in Iowa and Startup Kansas and Startup Missouri launching, but make sure to you join us for drinks as we see what the next six weeks of the season holds for us on the Silicon Prairie. There will be plenty of time to network, mingle with the Silicon Prairie News team from Omaha, win an autographed Analog the Prairie dog picture (see our billiards tournament bracket below) and learn more about our meetup sponsor, Hatchlings.

Hatchlings, the Facebook application that dubs itself the “world’s largest Easter Egg Hunt” may be a few months  from celebrating the April holiday, but at the meetup, the application will reveal its shadow, per se, when founder Brad Dwyer shares more about the Hatchlings 2 beta launch.

Hatchings is hiring

Join the Silicon Prairie’s hottest (re)startup. The company has plans to help build the region into a burgeoning tech hub in 2012 but it’s going to need your help to do it. If you’re passionate about technology and ready to get your hands dirty, Hatchlings wants to hear from you. Below are the positions available. Take a look and come out to the meetup to meet the Hatchlings team.

Marketing Director, Full-Time (Des Moines)

The marketing director’s job will be to help Hatchlings grow from 3 million to 30 million users in 2012. Hatchlings is looking for a creative, action oriented, results driven, enthusiastic individual who is able to critically analyze data and track metrics to achieve results. It wants a thinker and a strategizer who is playing chess while their competitors are playing checkers.

Community Manager, Full-Time (Des Moines)

Hatchlings needs an enthusiastic, chipper leader for our large and vibrant fan community. The ideal candidate is one of those people who is always friendly, polite, and courteous even when the customer is not. Strong communication skills and writing abilities are required.

More about our venue partner, Raccoon River

Take a look at our pictures from the last time we socialized at Raccoon River during our Thinc Iowa Happy Hour.  Make sure to join us this Thursday from 5-7 p.m. for $3.25 award-winning house brews.

Place your name in the tournament by leaving a comment below and you’ll be in the running for stiff competition, a framed, autographed picture of Analog and some solid SPN bragging rights.
