KC Geek Night – Monday, 6 p.m.

Kansas City – Tannin Wine Bar & Kitchen (1526 Walnut St.)

For the duration of October, Geek Night will be at Tannin. Maybe a new venue for November? You decide… come to Tannin and be sure to let us know what you think.

At Tannin, bottles of wine on Monday (all day) are buy one, get one free! Happy is from 4-6 p.m. and starts up again at 10 p.m. So even though Geek Night kicks off at 6, feel free to get there early and grab a bite.

SBIR/STTR Proposal Workshop – Tuesday – Wednesday

Omaha – University of Nebraska at Omaha Thompson Alumni Center (6708 Dodge St.)

Learn how to get your innovative business idea funded through the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program. You will get insider tips and winning proposal strategies from experts. Includes a personal review of your proposal. Day one focuses on DoD, DoE, USDA and NSF. Day two focuses on NIH.

1MillionCups: RFP 365 & Soul Seat – Wednesday, 9 a.m.

Kansas City – Kauffman Labs (4801 Rockhill Rd.)

Kauffman Labs for Enterprise Creation created 1 Million Cups (1MC) as a simple way to engage entrepreneurs in the Kansas City community. Each week, the 1MC program offers two local upstarts an opportunity to present their companies to a diverse audience of mentors, advisors, and entrepreneurs. Presenting this week: RFP 365 and Soul Seat.

This breakfast we have Chris Isaacson in to share his experience. Chris Isaacson is a founding employee and chief operating officer at BATS Global Markets. He is also a senior vice president of the firm. Chris is responsible for ensuring BATS remains an innovative, world-class leader in technology and his leadership has helped BATS grow quickly.

NodeLabs: Intro to Node.js – Friday-Saturday, 7 p.m.

Kansas City – Center Riverport Campus (6711 NE Birmingham Road)

Come join us, member of NodeKC or not, as we take an introductory look at Node.js. Node.js is a platform built on Chrome’s JavaScript runtime for building fast, scalable network applications. Node.js uses event-driven, non-blocking I/O that makes it efficient and perfect for data-intensive real-time distributed applications.
