Residents of Moore, Okla., are still sorting through the debris and dealing with the aftermath of the EF5 tornado that killed 24 and damaged or destroyed an estimated 12,000 homes May 20. And a local startup is doing its part to let people know there’s still a lot they can do to help.

One way is to donate meals through Union, Iowa-based nonprofit Outreach Inc. using tools powered by RAZ Mobile in Overland Park, Kan., which is a five-hour drive from Moore. The startup creates mobile fundraising campaigns that allow nonprofits and causes to collect donations online or by mobile phone. The service also makes it easy for donors to share through text and social media, and allows them to give again later—it has an option to store donor information.

Meals can be donated in five increments, starting at $10 for 40 meals, by visiting the RAZ-powered donation website or texting “Outreach” to 641-243-4341. RAZ charges clients $29 a month with no contract and collects 6 percent of the processed donations.

A group of volunteers from the Wichita, Kan., area already dropped off 10,000 mac ‘n’ cheese meals Sunday in Oklahoma City (above), but there’s a continued need given the lengthy rebuild ahead—estimates for the total cost of insurance claims range from $2 billion to $3.5 billion.
