Reading about startups is a pastime you obviously enjoy, but sometimes it’s worthwhile to see startups in living color. Kansas City Public Television (KCPT) began airing “Startups: Made in Kansas City” in April, and though not all of the companies fall under our coverage, we wanted to point out the segment with CandyCam, a multimedia robotics company creating systems that position and control video equipment for live-action or scripted shots.

Chief design officer Coty Beasley and managing partner Jeff Alholm walk the audience through how they’re “trying to create a new age of filmmaker equipment,” as Beasley says in the episode, which ran May 16. They also give an up-close look at a prototype of their first product, SkyHook, and give their perspectives on the KC startup scene.

KCPT also filmed the ever-growing 1 Million Cups, which hosts two startup presentations every Wednesday at Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, so don’t miss out on that, either.
