Just over two months after launching, Hatchlings Match—the latest game from the Des Moines-based Hatchlings team—now has more than 2 million users, garnering a spot as one of Facebook’s top 200 apps globally.
For some perspective, the startup reported in a blog post Monday that the new game surpassed Zynga’s hit Draw Something in terms of active users sometime last week.
Last month Hatchlings founder Brad Dwyer told Silicon Prairie News that much of Hatchlings Match’s growth had come from two countries that never achieved popularity with the original Hatchlings: Italy and Argentina. And as Hatchlings Match’s user base continues to grow, the same pattern has largely remained true. In fact, much of the growth has been driven by Europe and South America—adding Brazil to its list of top countries.
With the growth of the game’s international presence, users can now play Hatchlings Match in six languages—English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Dutch. But in the coming months users will likely be seeing more from the Hatchlings teams than new languages for Hatchlings Match.
“I think you will see at least one of our Hatchlings spin-off games in mobile app stores before the end of the year,” Dwyer told SPN last month.
In the meantime though, the startup is relocating to StartupCity Des Moines, which has slowly transitioned to include more co-working space.
