Beginning in January, the University of Iowa‘s John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center will host an intensive, nine-week developer boot camp.

The Dev/Iowa Bootcamp is designed to turn students into professional web developers through 50 hours of training per week, running from January 13, 2014, to March 14, 2014. Because of the demanding time commitment and schedule of the boot camp, organizers say U of Iowa students will not be able to enroll in this iteration. However, there will be a summer 2014 program targeted toward high school and college students.

The boot camp will be hosted in the university’s newly opened Thinc Labs and cost $5,000 for the nine-week program—however, tuition assistance is available. Students enrolled in the program can expect to learn tools like HTML, CSS, JavaScript programming and the importance of agile development.

Interested applicants will be asked to answer several short essay questions and complete an interview with the program’s instructors. The deadline to apply is Dec. 20.

Learn more about the program and apply online through the U of Iowa JPEC website.
