Des Moines startup VenueFox will be hosting holiday pop-up parties with its Des Moines clients Dec. 3-15.
With the holiday season just around the corner, the stress of planning the annual office soirée or neighborhood party is likely not far behind. But for all of Iowa’s holiday party planners, Des Moines-based startup VenueFox has a hassle-free solution.
Beginning Dec. 3 and running through Dec. 15 VenueFox will offer holiday pop-up parties—complete with venue, decor and customizable catering and entertainment—with a number of its Des Moines vendors.

The concept was created with help from a number of VenueFox’s vendors and friends. While the startup’s vendors are powering the holiday events, the DSM Pop-Up Parties are being produced by Make It Happen Events, Plant Life Designs, JustCourtney Productions and On The Spot With Ryan Kolder.
“Pop-up parties are a one-of-a-kind, limited-time-only opportunity for people in central Iowa who need a hand planning their holiday party,” Courtney Tompkins of JustCourtney Productions told Silicon Prairie News.
The pop-up parties will be held at a fixed location in East Village and require no set-up or cleaning by the party’s host. Prices will vary depending on the type of party, number of guests (10-75) and menu, but will be cheaper as services are bundled. Planners are able to choose different options for desserts, cocktail parties or lunch events.
“Our ‘Cheers to the Holidays’ parties are just the kickoff for DSM Pop-up Parties,” Tompkins said. “If these go well, we’d love to do more throughout the year and feature other VenueFox vendors. We have some great vendors involved in this first one and we’re really excited to bring these parties to life.”
VenueFox is free for party-planning users and less than $1 a day for businesses or individuals looking to list their services on the site. In September co-founders Andrea Hansen and Jerod Mollenhauer announced the soft launch of VenueFox. Now the site has brought on more than 75 vendors from party planners and entertainers to to caterers and venues.
