The choice to become a full-time artist doesn’t come without risk. Lack of recognition and an inability to reach the right audience are fears all artists can sympathize with. However, the thought of being anything but an artist is unbearable for many.

Alexis Tryon is the co-founder and CEO of Artsicle, a website created to showcase creative work. Named “Gallerists to the People” by The New York Times, Artsicle connects consumers and artists around the globe. Through the online format, Alexis enables visual artists, including painters, sculptors and photographers, to showcase and sell their work online.

Her love for art was originally developed during the time she spent at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia. During this time, Alexis began her own art collection. She became frustrated with the cost and process of the gallery experience, knowing there was a multitude of artists who deserved to be showcased beyond the artists already included in galleries.

After making the hard decision to leave a job on Wall Street, Artsicle was born with the help of co-founder Scott Carleton. Through this unique transition, she serves as inspiration for anyone feeling compelled to abandon security and pursue their passion.

Since 2010, praise from numerous publications, including The Wall Street Journal, TIME magazine and the BBC have been given to Alexis and her brand. Additionally, Alexis has been named a “Female Founder to Know” by Mashable.

We invite you to join Alexis and the other 14 Big Omaha speakers this May 7-9. Tickets are currently available at BigOmaha.com for $499 until March 14.
