As she works to transform current standards for transportation, Heidi Lubin rapidly is becoming a thought leader in a previously male-dominated space. Hailing from Chicago, not only is she a role model for future female leaders, but also an example of the ingenuity of Midwestern entrepreneurs.

As CEO and co-founder of HEVT, Lubin and her company are working to build the next generation of electric motors by leveraging smart software and optimally designed hardware. HEVT intends to lower transportation costs by 60 percent, while also improving current efficiency standards three fold. Additionally, HEVT’s motors are free of rare earth materials, such as lanthanum, a material currently used in hybrid cars known to have negative environmental and economic impacts.

Strides made by Lubin and HEVT have resulted in awards and funding from both the Cleantech Open and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Lubin has more than a decade of experience as an entrepreneur and startup executive, stretching far back before the founding of HEVT—she also has four degrees, including both an MBA and a JD from Northwestern University. Beyond the startup community, she spent years as an attorney assisting Fortune 100 companies. While free time may seem unlikely, Heidi also is a certified skiing, kayaking and yoga instructor.

Heidi Lubin will join our slate of Big Omaha speakers at KANEKO on May 7-9. Tickets are available for $499 at BigOmaha.com until Friday, March 14.
