Iowa JPEC reveals Venture School mentor team after Thursday social

On Thursday evening, the University of Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center hosted a social hour event for its Des Moines-based Venture School program.

On Thursday evening, the University of Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center hosted a social hour event for its Des Moines-based Venture School program. 

While three cohorts have completed the program in Iowa City, this will be the first class of Venture School in Des Moines. To get the program off the ground, JPEC is working with local organizations like VentureNet, the Iowa Economic Development Authority, the Iowa Innovation Council, Drake University and Gravitate to recruit teams for the Central Iowa cohort, which begins Sept. 2.

So far the mentor team for Des Moines’ Venture School includes a number of community startup leaders as well as experienced members of the business community, including:

  • Brooke Benschoter, Torsion Mobile
  • Sheree Clark, Fork in the Road
  • Jo Eckert, West Des Moines Incubator
  • Peter Hong, Executive Managment
  • John LaMarche, VentureNet
  • Milt Milloy, Springboard Consulting & Capital
  • Tom Myers, VEMTOWA Nutraceutical
  • Geoff Wood, Welch Avenue
