We’re ready to get dressed up again.
It’s time to polish the Golden Analogs as we get ready for the third-annual Silicon Prairie Awards on August 21 at the Midland Theatre in Kansas City. It’s our way of celebrating all the great companies and individuals who make our communities dynamic.
We’re now accepting nominations on the SPN Awards site.
The window for nominations closes July 21 at 11:59 p.m. After that, the SPN newsroom will internally count up the total nominations (one nomination per person per category) then we’ll have our finalists.
About a week later we’ll announce our four or five finalists for each category—11 total—for a public vote. We’ll hand off the info you all provided to a panel of nine judges—six from our region and three nationally. It’ll be really simple: the public vote accounts for half and the average of the judges’ scores the other half.
The process culminates the evening of August 21 where the winners will be announced live on stage. This event features a keynote by former Apple exec and N3twork co-founder Erik Lammerding, an opening and closing reception and, of course, a few surprises.
For more than a decade, Lammerding built Apple’s consumer market for third-party apps from the ground up. Under Erik’s leadership, his team focused on helping key partners to develop, deliver and market the highest quality products on both iOS and Mac. He’s credited with establishing relationships for Apple with companies such as Electronic Arts, Airbnb, Time Warner, Conde Nast, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Instagram, FiftyThree, Nike, Twitter, Path, Netflix, HBO, PopCap, Jawbone, MLB Advanced Media and Zynga. Erik recently co-founded N3TWORK, an app building a TV experience around your interests.
Tickets to the awards ceremony are on sale now. Coming from Omaha? You can reserve your seat on a bus while purchasing your ticket.
Stay tuned for more announcements on Silicon Prairie News in the coming weeks.

Rules
As said above, we’ll take just one nomination per category from each person. Make sure to include some great reasons why you are nominating. We’ll also only take one vote for finalists when that part of the process comes around. The more you spread the word, the better your chances. We want to reward grassroots support, not daily voting by an individual.
Everyone can be nominated for more than one award and can win in multiple categories. We do, however, reserve the right to discard any fradulent nominations or votes. The region consists roughly of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska—borderline cities in neighboring states included.
All finalists—both companies and individuals—will get two tickets to the Awards show.
