The Omaha Startup Collaborative will host its first Exchanges With event on August 27, featuring Brian Spaly, founder and CEO of Trunk Club, and Devon Brooks, founder and CEO of Blo blow dry bar.
Spaly is best known for founding Trunk Club, a men’s styling service primarily conducted via virtual consultations. Trunk Club was acquired by retail giant, Nordstrom for $350 million – just five years after Spaly founded it. Prior to Trunk Club, Spaly founded Bonobos, an e-commerce men’s apparel company that scaled to reach $1 million in net revenue within six months of launching.
Brooks founded Blo blow dry bar when she was 21 years old and in her second year of college. Now, with 45 locations worldwide, Brooks has shifted from day-to-day operations to grooming the next class of entrepreneurs. She has been a delegate for the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Summit and is recognized as “one of America’s next top mentors” by The New York Times.

Workshops, mentoring for OSC members
Along with the public evening event, members of the Omaha Startup Collaborative will have the opportunity to work with Spaly and Brooks in workshop and mentoring sessions.
“Without coaching, connections and collaboration, it becomes infinitely more difficult for a startup founder to succeed,” said Erica Wassinger, co-founder and managing director of the Omaha Startup Collaborative.
“The lessons learned through wins and losses inform strategic decisions in the future. We are lucky to have an insider’s take on the path both Brian and Devon took to success.”
The Exchanges With series is supported by SAC Federal Credit Union, AIM Institute, Dundee Venture Capital, First National Bank, Straight Shot and Big Omaha.
