Keith Fix announced his new company, RetailAware during the Pipeline Entrepreneur Innovators Awards. Brian Lee from Silicon Prairie News caught up with Fix to find out more about RetailAware.

“The new company was kind of a spinoff of what we were previously doing in the digital signage space,” said Fix. “We provide actionable insights for retail manufacturers.”

With a proprietary combination of hardware and software smaller than a credit card, Retail Aware can disrupt the technology industry by providing actionable insights to retail manufacturers.

“We’re really building Google Analytics for retail manufacturers. Right now when you deploy a display into a retail store, you’re really blind,” said Fix. “There’s additional insight you can get by knowing things, simple things.”

Those simple things include how many people saw a display, how long they stayed there and how often they visited the display. When deployed alongside end-caps, Retail Aware can provide additional data to retailers before they start seeing an impact in sales. Retail Aware doesn’t use any technology that doesn’t already exist.

“We’re just combining it in a unique way,” said Fix.

RetailAware collects the insights and then teaches retailers how to analyze the information in order to determine what actions they need to take.

“A couple decades ago we started putting analytics on websites, and it became the single biggest competitive advantage that ecommerce had to brick and mortar for the longest time,” said Fix. “You don’t know what you don’t know. It’s exciting to uncover those discoveries and those insights.”
