This new, monthly series from the InsideOutside.io team will host a meetup that brings together startups, corporate innovators, industry leaders, and curious people interested in new trends, tools, and tactics for building in today’s fast-paced world.

The first meeting in the series will take place this Thursday, August 23 at FUSE in Lincoln’s Haymarket. The event will kick off with networking at 5:00, followed by two educational sessions:

Joe Toscano

Founder of the non-profit Design Good, author of the upcoming book Automating Humanity

Joe is a former Experience Design Consultant for Google, who has won international awards and is now working on a non-profit called Design Good.

With the help of his global network Design Good is actively working to educate the public about what’s going on inside the tech industry, help regulators understand what questions to ask, and give technologist the knowledge/tools/resources to create a better future, through technology.

About Joe’s Session:

New technologies and the algorithms that reside within them have become the governing bodies of the world. These systems shape the way millions, if not billions of people around the globe behave, think, and operate as a global society. This being said, the people creating these systems have become the modern government representatives to their user base of constituents. What we will talk about is the power that resides within these systems, why regulation is an important part of the future of this industry, how it will affect business, and where it may be headed in the future. This talk will help everyone understand the role they play and the responsibilities that come with it.

Edward Weniger

Founder of Alpha Bitcoin

About Edward’s Session: Why You Need Your Own Cryptocurrency

In the early 2000s, the concept of a “Personal Area Network” or PAN came to prominence as people envisioned a future heavily dependent upon IoT, Bluetooth, and mobile devices. Why would you need your own network? Someday in the future, we may all have our own coins, or maybe your business will have its own coin you use.

Join us as we discuss how cryptocurrency can open up new possibilities, cause local economies to flourish, and we rethink doing business in your town. The technical groundwork is being laid already – find out how this possibility could be made a reality.
