Sunday Video: Salman Khan tells the story of Khan Academy

These past few weeks I’ve been revisiting concepts I was first introduced to in middle school, high school and sometimes college by watching the free videos of Khan Academy. Found at khanacademy.com, there’s more than 2,400 videos, 10 to 20 minutes in length, covering a wide-range of subjects, from algebra to chemistry to current events, such as “Paulson Bailout.”

Between my interest in lifelong learning and recent advancements in the space, such as Skillshare and The Coursebook, I’ve taken time to look into the backstory of some of these organizations. The following TED talk by Salman Khan, the creator of Khan Academy, is one such example.

If you weren’t aware of Khan Academy before today, or if you’re already a user of it, I encourage you to view Khan’s 20-minute presentation below, which, as the image hints, includes a short discussion with Bill Gates. And, of course, I’d encourage you to visit khanacademy.com today and take advantage of an extremely powerful and free resource. The world of education, from early to lifelong, is truly changing.

“I see Sal Khan as a pioneer and an overall movement to use technology to let more and more people learn things, know where they stand. It’s the start of a revolution.”
