President, editor, author and radio talk show host are just some of the many hats that design guru Debbie Millman wears.

This Thursday, August 19, Milliman, president of AIGA, the professional association for design, will be at the Sioux Falls Museum of Visual Materials (500 North Main Avenue) to share her inspirational story. With buzz still in the air from the release of her most recent book, Look Both Ways: Illustrated Essays on the Intersection of Life and Design, Debbie will do just that and present on branding and the intersection of life and design.

In addition to her role at AIGA, Millman is the president of the design division at Sterling Brands. She is also a contributing editor at Print Magazine, a design writer at FastCompany.com, and chair of the Masters in Branding Program at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Millman hosts her own internet radio talk show, Design Matters, which highlights topics on the forefront of design. She is also the author of How To Think Like A Great Graphic Designer and The Essential Principles of Graphic Design.

There will be a host of design pros and amateurs alike for what promises to be an entertaining and enlightening presentation. The evening begins with a social hour with light refreshments from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and then Millman will take the stage at 6:30. If you are an AGIA South Dakota member admission is free. It’s $30 for non-members and $15 for student non-members.
