Startup Nebraska, a statewide effort in conjunction with the Startup America Partnership, will officially launch with an event at 3 p.m. on Jan. 27 at The Mastercraft Building (1111 North 13th St.) in Omaha.

The Startup America Partnership is an organization established in January 2011 that aims to provide resources and visibility to entrepreneurs across the U.S. Its mission includes providing resources and connections to help young companies grow; supporting regional startup ecosystems; and recognizing startups as the drivers of the economy and their founders as American heroes.

The goal of the Nebraska effort is to evaluate the current status of the ecosystem, identify any specific
gaps or weaknesses and improve those areas through community efforts.

BECOME A SPONSOR

Nebraska will become the second Silicon Prairie state to launch an effort under the umbrella of the Startup America Partnership. StartupIowa, which got underway on Dec.13, was first. Startup Kansas and Startup Missouri will follow, holding kickoff events on Jan. 31.

Organizations backing the Nebraska effort include Silicon Prairie News, Nebraska Global, the University of Nebraska system, Bellevue University, Prairie Ventures, the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.

The launch event will provide a chance to hear more about The Startup America Partnership and to walk around and check out Mastercraft (left), a budding tech and startup hub just north of downtown Omaha. Many of the entrepreneurs in the building will have their doors open for walk-throughs and tours. The event will also include light hors d’oeuvres and drinks.
