St. Louis: Johego wins $270K contract with Missouri Foundation for Health

A new contract between Johego and the Missouri Foundation for Health will help the tech startup further connect people in need with medical and social services throughout Northeastern, Central, and Southwestern Missouri.

Johego will be adding 18 additional counties to their coverage area which will enable nearly 1.1 million Missourians to find medical and social services through the platform.

The $270,000 contract stipulates that Johego create a browser-based equivalent of their smartphone application so that anyone can search their service directory using their laptop and desktop computers for free, including police officers in their squad cars.

Altoona, Iowa: TAI announces winners of 10th annual Iowa Women of Innovation Awards

Last week, the Technology Association of Iowa (TAI) announced the winners of the 10th annual Iowa Women of Innovation Awards Presented by Workiva. The awards dinner recognized dozens of women from across Iowa who are leaders in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

The event featured a keynote presentation by Lea Hickman, Partner at Silicon Valley Product Group and former Product Lead for Adobe’s Creative Cloud.

“One of the goals of TAI’s board of directors is to engage more women in technology. The Women of Innovation Awards provides the great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Iowa’s incredible STEM leaders” said TAI President, Brian Waller. “TAI works to foster a diverse technology community by promoting inclusive workforce initiatives welcoming to women, rural Iowans, and minority populations. We’re proud of companies, like Workiva, that are working to make Iowa a more welcoming place for women in technology.”

Des Moines, Iowa: Steve Forbes discusses agtech at Prairie Crest Capital Conference

More than 150 national ag leaders joined together earlier this month at the Prairie Crest Capital Annual Ag Tech Investor Conference in Des Moines, Iowa, which featured legendary investor Steve Forbes as the keynote speaker.

Forbes spoke about the importance of technology in agriculture and the impact globalization has had on the industry.

“Over the past 30 years, no industry has become more globally interconnected than agriculture,” remarked Forbes during his keynote address. “Ag companies are continuing to innovate with cutting-edge research and development. However, they cannot succeed without capital. We lead the world by being better, smarter, and not being afraid to take risks. Now is the time to take risks and invest in these new technologies allowing companies and ideas to flourish.”

The day focused on the important role the Midwest must play in the ag tech investment effort. Multiple companies at different business stages from across the country showcased their latest ideas featuring new technologies and advancements.
