Figo Pet Insurance raised $1.5 million including loan financing from an undisclosed investor on January 16.

The company, founded by Howard Sproat in 2013, is based in Chicago.

The company’s cloud-based pet insurance platform connects pet owners with pet insurance plans that pay for veterinary exam fees, surgeries, prescriptions, and other pet veterinary care, and provides up to 100% coverage with unlimited annual medical benefits (pre-existing conditions excluded).

Figo’s features also include Pet Cloud, a social engagement piece that users can use to find services and places for pets such as parks, trails, dog walkers, grooming and boarding services.
