Level Ex closed a $4 million venture funding deal with undisclosed investors on March 22, 2019.

An undisclosed portion of the raise was in the form of convertible debt.

Level Ex is a creator of video games for doctors to help them sharpen their medical and surgical skills. The fully-interactive virtual platform recreates life-like medical simulations that physicians can navigate to build their competency.

The company boasts 350,000 healthcare professionals using its medical video games to help them master critical skills in their respective specialties, with over three million cases played in 2018. Games help users navigate challenging cases and build their knowledge around new medical devices drug therapies.

The company is based in Chicago and was founded in 2015 by Samuel Glassenberg. Glassenberg has deep experience in the video gaming industry, and has united a team of game developers, designers, surgeons, and digital health executives to develop and scale the Level Ex platform and offering.

The raise follows the company’s announcement earlier this month that it has expanded into cardiology with the launch of Cardio Ex, available in the App Store. Cardio Ex is the company’s fourth specialty game. The others are Airway Ex, Gastro Ex, and Pulm Ex.
