Last week, local attorney Shane Thielen gave Lincolnites a primer on intellectual property and copyright law, part of the Lincoln Young Professional Group’s Entrepreneurial Speaking Series. In a world where everything from maps to phone books bear copyrights, knowing the legal fine print is more important than ever.
Thielen’s talk served as a sneak-peek for an upcoming intellectual property workshop. On October 6th he’ll be holding a three-hour seminar that promises to equip intellectual entrepreneurs with all the weapons they’ll need to safeguard their ideas.
The event is hosted by Southeast Community College, 285 South 68th Street, and will take place from 5:30 – 8:30 in the evening. Lincoln YPG members can attend for free, and the seminar is open to anyone for a small tuition cost of $29.
For a better understanding of what will be talked about at the workshop, or if you just want to hear the story of how Cisco actually owned the registered trademark “iPhone” for more than a decade, check out the video below! (Unfortunately, the video and audio don’t match up. We encountered some trouble when rendering.)
