Fall is unconference season on the Silicon Prairie, and following the three local events in Des Moines, Kansas City, and Omaha, will be a composite event: Highlight Midwest.
Des Moines is proud to host the second annual iteration of Highlight Midwest, an event founded as a means to showcase – or highlight – the best that the “flyover states” have to offer for entrepreneurship and creative endeavors.
The first event was held a year ago in Kansas City with more than 150 attendees, Des Moines is looking at an even bigger audience according to organizer Rob Jensen.
According to Jensen, the first half day of sessions will be scheduled the morning of the event, in traditional unconference style, but the afternoon schedule is being finalized now. Slots are still available for entrepreneurs who want to highlight their efforts from any geography.

Highlight Midwest is scheduled for October 23rd in the space at 1312 Locust Street in an area of downtown Des Moines known as Western Gateway, boasting creative class endeavors such as Foundry Coworking, The Des Moines Social Club, and the new Pappajohn Sculpture Park.
Jensen recently sat down with SPN recently to discuss the event. View the video below to learn more about why the event was formed, what is planned for this year and how you can be involved in Highlight Midwest.
