Starting today, you may notice that on certain places throughout the site we’ve introduced advertising units. Currently, these spots are being occupied by Google Ads. Have no fear, this is not a long-term solution!

We’re currently selling the following ad spots across our site and multiple distribution channels. These are available as monthly contracts starting immediately:

  • Half banners (234×60) in the sidebar
  • Button + copy (120×90) inserted into content stream
  • Full banners (468×60) in the RSS feed / email subscription
  • Sponsored / featured posts

Look for more opportunities in the coming months! For rates and additional information, please email info@siliconprairienews.com.

It goes without saying that our advertising strategy will match our organization’s integrity and vision. I have long-held the belief that the needs of advertisers and audience can be very closely aligned, especially when you have a tightly defined community of folks. We will aim to provide value – both in terms of the advertisers that we accept, as well as with regards to what those advertisements do to the user experience. Rest assured, you will never see a popup (or under) ad on this site as long as I’m at the helm. We’ve created a beautiful and fun site, and it will remain that way.

As an organization, we’re committed to providing the same level of passion and commitment to the community and ecosystem that we’ve had since we started. In order to do so, we must build a sustainable entity which can continue to build upon what we’ve created.

The mission of Silicon Prairie News remains true and focused:

  1. Build and foster a vibrant local community of startups, entrepreneurs and creatives in each of the regions we cover.
  2. Promote within those regions to provide visibility into the exciting technologies, people and companies emerging from each community.
  3. Provide a platform by which these companies and individuals can be presented to a much larger national or worldwide audience, in an effort to put Omaha, Des Moines and other regions on the national radar.

We have some *amazing* things lined up for 2010 and beyond, and this is the first step of many to help us move in that direction.

Thanks for all of your continued support over the past year and a half – we truly couldn’t do it without our loyal community of readers and supporters. We’re humbled each day that people visit our site, retweet links, and attend our events. Thanks and stay tuned, it’s going to be an exciting year on the Silicon Prairie!
