The search component of one of Omaha’s fastest growing startups – a staff that doubles in size every 12-18 months – has also gained a significant amount of speed. Proxbid, a real auction marketplace (think: online bidders bidding on real, live auctions, such as the Madoff Estate Auction), released a new search tool earlier this week that they say “returns results extremely fast.” (Screenshot courtesy of Proxibid)

In a company press release, president Ryan Downs commented: “As we continue to grow and expand, we will never stop listening to our customers’ feedback and will continue to evolve our service to meet their needs.”

One of those costumers, bidder Chris Ehlers, was also quoted: “The new search modes make it easy to find exactly what I am looking for on Proxibid. Search results return faster than ever, making browsing on Proxibid even more convenient.”

In addition to quicker results, the new search tool gives bidders the ability to perform a highly-customized, more efficient search, and helps auctioneers better manage bidding activity. Other enhancements allow bidders to:

  • Refine search results by category, auction type, lots, location, auction company and their auction archives
  • Better classify their search results
  • View auction archives without requiring a login

According to the press release:

Auction Companies will also benefit from the new search tool.  Many auctioneers comb through archived lots to research pricing to help establish a market value, and possibly an opening bid, for items in their auctions. A better understanding of market value and past bidding interest and activity on similar items can help them dictate the pace of the auction.

Another added feature is the highlighting of the search term in the results.

Also to note, the press release provided a few updated stats. Proxibid has:

  • Worked with more than 2,500 auctioneers
  • Brought more than 25,000 auctions to a global, online audience
  • Registered bidders from more than 180 countries
