In our Tools for the Trade post yesterday we featured LaunchRock, a website that makes it easy for startups to put up a page prior to launch in order to capture leads for alpha or beta users. One startup that has, in the opinion of LaunchRock’s founder Jameson Detweiler, used LaunchRock effectively is Zaarly, a proximity-based, real-time buyer powered market that launched their site just over two weeks ago.
“We have a pretty good default copy for Twitter and Facebook, but it can be improved upon,” said Detweiler when talking about users promoting their sites through social media. “Zaarly is a company that definitely did a really good job with the tweet that they [used].”
“They started at LA Startup Weekend a couple weekends ago,” said Detweiler, “and they got tweeted out [by] Demi Moore…and then LeVar Burton did, too, and that was pretty interesting. They actually were the fastest growing site out of all the sites there.”
The following video is queued to the point in which Detweiler talks about Zaarly, but I encourage you (after you’ve watched that segment) to watch the interview in its entirety. It’s evident LaunchRock is onto something and it’ll be fascinating to track how they become a part of the startup story.
