When reports of Ashton Kutcher‘s involvement in Dwolla‘s $5 million Series B round surfaced in late February and set the rumor mill in motion, the team behind Dwolla, an online cash transfer startup, remained mum on the subject.

But today, Dwolla and Kutcher are going public with their relationship.

Kutcher, an Iowa native, Hollywood star and frequent investor in tech startups, has confirmed that he participated in Des Moines-based Dwolla’s latest round. His A-Grade Investments contributed an undisclosed amount to the $5 million raise, which was led by Union Square Ventures of New York and included participation from Village Ventures and Thrive Capital, also of New York; Artists & Instigators of West Conshohocken, Penn. (Marc Eckō‘s venture innovation company); and angel investor Paige Craig of Los Angeles-based Betterworks.

Kutcher and Ben Milne, Dwolla’s co-founder and CEO, joined SPN’s Danny Schreiber for today’s episode of PrairieCast (the show’s last) to discuss the news (embedded above).
