Nevermind that he was busy participating in one panel and moderating another last month at South By Southwest Interactive in Austin, Texas. Jeff Slobotski, SPN’s co-founder and chief community officer, still found time to put on his reporter’s hat and go to work.
In the midst of a whirlwind few days in Austin, he caught up with Scott Case, CEO of the Startup America Partnership, and Naithan Jones and Jacob McDaniel, co-founders of Overland Park, Kan.-based AgLocal. And, in the latest installment of our unofficial “Better Late Than Never from SXSW” series, we bring you that interview today.
Case, who will visit the Silicon Prairie next week to deliver the lunchtime keynote at the i2iowa Investors and Innovators Forum, leads off the video above, discussing the Startup America Partnership’s activity at SXSW and how that fits into the organization’s big-picture goals.

“We’re basically raising the profile of America’s startups,” Case says. “That’s all part of Startup America in general — to try to elevate and celebrate the awesomeness thats happening all over the country.”
Case then provides a glowing introduction for Jones and McDaniel, AgLocal’s CEO and chief product officer, respectively. The co-founders reflect on what SXSW has meant to AgLocal, a marketplace that connects independent farmers and producers to local businesses and consumers. Perhaps most notably, they offer a glimpse at their startup’s short-term goals, which Jones says include launching a product by early summer.
Stay tuned to SPN for more on AgLocal’s impending product launch, and check out the video above for more from Case, Jones and McDaniel.
