Three members of the Silicon Prairie News team took on the Big Apple earlier this week week to reconnect with some Silicon Prairie natives who have relocated to New York City.

On Monday Dec. 15, co-founder Jeff Slobotski, CEO Regan Carrizales and events/speaker coordinator Caleb Ulffers, attended the annual charity: ball, hosted by charity: water, where the nonprofit raised more than $4 million to bring clean water to developing countries around the world. Charity: water founder Scott Harrison spoke this year at the inaugural Big Kansas City and in 2010 at Big Omaha

The following evening, the SPN crew met up with more than a dozen folks for a meetup in Greenwich Village. Typically The Standard’s Biergartden has been the locale of SPN’s expat meetups in NYC, but with the temperatures in the single digits, its outdoor rooftop didn’t sound too cozy.

Instead, the group moved on to Amity Hall, where along with the single digit temperatures, large snowflakes accompanied us to the intimate gathering. We reconnected with about 15 expats, in addition to a few friends from across the pond. A big thanks from the SPN crew to who made it out, and a special thank you to the event’s sponsor, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation!

If you weren’t able to attend, here are a few photos from our evening at Amity Hall:

About 15 Silicon Prairie expats met us at Amity Hall in Greenwhich Village to catch up on the latest regional news and enjoy some quality brews.
